5. CONCLUSION
The major aim of this project was to model and demonstrate the complicated behaviour of a simple mechanical system using computer simulations. Having done this it was hoped that investigations could be made into what is probably the most imprtant aspect of chaotic dynamics; that of the extreme sensitivity to initial conditions. That is, given two identical systems with only the slightest of differences in the initial conditions, the trajectories in phase-space will diverge extremely rapidly after a relatively short period of time.
The computer program in this project is capable (with slight modification) of modeling a wide range of dynamical systems.
